You need to tell us (1) how old your PC is, and (2) why you were trying to do recovery.

Hello my laptop is 6 years old and I’m trying to recover it because I can’t get into it. Please see pictures attached

@DDavis2929

If it was newer, you could use the HP Cloud Recovery function to create recovery media -- but that only works with PCs that were built in 2016 or later.

With a PC this old, the likely cause is a failing or failed hard drive.

If your PC is new enough to support UEFI, you can use these steps to test the hard drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024

If not, to check the drive you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu
3) Press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.
