Pavilion ProBook 470 g3
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

In Jan 2017, I purchased an HP Pavilion 470 g3 Notebook Pro that came with W7 Pro with downgrade rights from W10 Pro. Its packaging included both W7 Pro SP1 and W10 Pro Operating System DVDs as well as W7 and W10 Application and Driver Recovery DVDs.

Now, I need to upgrade (back?) from W7 to W10. Which W10 DVD do I use for the upgrade, or is there a different procedure in this situation? Is there a link to a tutorial that addresses this exact situation that will guide me through the steps to upgrade successfully? I'm not completely clear on whether my notebook already has any W10 system info on it or not, such as the Go Back feature, assuming it originally had W10 before it was downgraded to W7.

Thank you for any links or advice.

Hello, you have 2 solutions. You can in effect use a DVD, if you have a DVD for the Windows 10 system, but you would loose all your datas.

But you can directly make this upgrade via the tool from the Microsoft site, and if you have a driver problem just reinstall it from your driver DVD:

Download Windows 10 - microsoft.com

I hope you will not have problem with activation, if Windows 10 is not activated after installation please tell us or contact HP Pro Support.

If I have been answer to your question please accept it as a solution 🙂
