I repair desktops and laptops as well as sell computer accessories for a living. An Hp laptop, Elitebook model 480 G1 is brought to my office for repairs. On examination of the laptop, I discovered that the hard drive was not detected thereby reporting no booting device found. I decided to check some settings in the Bios Page which I found to have been passworded. I then removed the hard drive from the laptop and put it in an external case to determine the status of the hard drive but was not detected also while running with some strange sounds from the inner space of the hard drive. The conclusion was that the hard drive was bad. The laptop owner provided another hard drive that was checked health wise and found to be OK. I have to use another Hp laptop to run the windows setup to it's first restart and powered off and remove the hard drive back to the Elitebook system to continue the remaining setup process from there. The setup is successfully completed and the system is up and running. My worry is how I can remove or reset the administrator's bios page password. I have read about the use of Cmd command line to run the following commands:
debug
o 70 2E
o 71 FF
quit
The system reported back that the first command is not an internal or external command operable program and as such I can not continue with the other commands. I also read about using Hp Bios Recovery Option Tool which I don't know where to download such tool. Where on Hp website can I download such tool or do I have to create such tool myself by using a flash drive? This is the reason I am writing the Community for assistance. Any member of the Community who may have had similar issue that has been resolved can e-mail me, while thanking the Community Team for their assistance to resolve my issue.
