Hi, i've recently had my son return home from university with the laptop we bought him as a gift. He has a new one and we want to resell his old one to recouperate some funds.
The password he says he had stored hasnt worked we have tried all sorts of combinations. The model is a Pavilion 15-au183sa.
I've been through to HP support on the telephone and they are telling me that it cant simply be reset as its not a windows password so a system restore wouldnt be available.
We are stuck on a blue screen that says 'enter administrator password or power on password.' If we try and enter the password several times it eventually comes up with a screen which says [i 59854145]
Anyone know what we are doing wrong? we are sure we are entering the password correctly or perhaps we can reset it somehow?
