I wanted to reinstall windows on my laptop, since it was glitching out. I tried to install it locally, by inserting a usb into the laptop with a windows 11 24H2 iso on it. The Samsung 1tb nvme did not show up in the list of disks, only the usb itself showed up.

So i did what everyone would do, i took the nvme out, plugged it into my desktop pc and installed windows 11 on the pc, on the NVME. everything worked, untill i plugged the nvme back into the laptop, and it would not boot, and give me the ''INACESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE'' bsod. After putting the nvme back into the pc however, it booted right into windows.

I have no clue what is going on here, and i only managed to get ubuntu working on the laptop, but I want windows on it.

I suggest a bios flash? maybe that will work, but i couldnt find the bios version anywhere. its F46, but on the hp software support site when i put the laptop model in it doesnt show a single software download for the laptop.

please help, im stuck

P.S. it is a Hp Pavilion 15-eg0856nd (32gb ram, i5-1135g7, 1tb nvme)

Unless your PC had the same generation processor and chipset as your notebook, you wouldn't be able to install Windows on another PC and plug the drive back into your PC and expect it to work.

If you want to clean install Windows on a PC with an Intel 11th gen core processor, you have to load the Intel storage controller drivers at the screen where Windows cannot find any drives.

I have zipped up and attached the Intel storage controller driver you need for Windows to find the drive, below.

Unzip and copy all of the files in the folder in the attachment to a USB flash drive.

Have the flash drive and your Windows installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the Windows installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

If Windows still can't find the drive, uncheck the box to include the compatible driver and try any of the ones listed.

Your other option would be to use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reset the drive to its 'out of the box' condition.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

Since you have to use the software on another PC as yours is not working, you will need to enter your PC's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed which is 39L73EA#ABH
