Hp Pavilion laptop, smart check shows SSD failure

Hi guys,

I turned my HP Pavillion on this morning and it said that SSD failure was imminent and I needed to back up everything ASAP to avoid losing everything. 

I have ran a smart check and once again the SSD failed the check.

Does anyone have any experience with this and can advise what's going on and the best thing to do?

Back up your files as recommended if you can still get into Windows.

If there is a 24-character failure ID code being generated, enter that plus the other information required at the link below and it should provide a short report on what the problem is.

I am forecasting that you will need to install a new NVMe SSD and reinstall the operating system.

If you want to install a larger capacity NVMe SSD beyond the original capacity of 256 GB, that should be fine.

After you replace the drive, you can use the HP cloud recovery tool which will create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with the PC.
