Hi, awhile back I had to manually reinstall Windows on my friends laptop. I left the stock recovery partition and HP Hardware Diagnostic in tact and now he is wanting me to reinstall it again. I would like to still use the stock factory image but keep getting and error about "Can't open file : x:\sources\recovery\tools\hp\rita-tool\" Is there any way to fix this and reinstall the stock factory image? It would save me time in the long run. I am fine with having to wipe the drive but would like to reinstall the factory OS if possible.

Here is the problem. The owner of the laptop tried to use the built in reset from settings and it failed and now i am having to manually reinstall Windows again. I want to try and restore the Factory OS for ease of use no driver problems. If this is not possible to fix then i am going to wipe the drive completely and remove the factory images as they would be useless to me.

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
If the in-built recovery partition is not working, then you may contact the phone support team and get a copy of the recovery kit, which will have the operating system installation files, required drivers and all the software's which came with the computer at the time of the purchase. 🙂
