I have just recently bought the new Spectre x360 i7 10gen 16gb ram 512gbssd, I´ve now used it for 2 days and the left side of the laptop is almost untouchable it's so hot especially where the USB port is. I have updated the bios as well as set the "thermal" settings to "Comfort" and that has activated the fans but has not helped. I have checked the CPU percentage and its only at 15% when using chrome, word, and Excel. Is this something that´s normal or needs to be checked up? The laptop is hot and draining the battery even when shutdown mode and will drain the battery throughout the night and yes i have turned off wifi settings as well as turned off the recommended fast startup option.
Update 26/02/20 Its been a few days with no reply, I have messaged customer support but have had no feedback either?? I am currently traveling and not rear an HP store unfortunately as I would have returned it the same day. I have always used the Dell XPS and thought I would try this machine out but clearing both machine and customer service can not compare. $1200 laptop? Its 2020 please get serious

@Kaj11 Greetings from the HP Community!
Resetting the ACPI battery driver should take care of the concern about battery draining while the device is shut down,
There will be a hard reset mixed in as well, so the two methods combined typically help a lot with battery issues.
1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.
2. Expand batteries.
3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.
4. Shut down the computer.
5. Disconnect the charger.
6. Remove the battery.
7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.
8. Insert the battery only.
9. Attempt to turn the battery on.
If this had an impact, it should behave differently.
If not, Press the power button and then tap the F2 key to invoke the startup menu.
Choose and click on the F10 key to invoke the BIOS.
Use the System Configuration tab. Disable USB Charging and press the F10 key to save the changes and boot into Windows.
As for, battery having issues, I suggest you run a test and calibrate the battery to resolve it: click here for steps
And to reduce the overheating: click here
Let me know how that pans out,

Hi,
I have now done your suggestions with no luck. I charged it fully last night to find this morning the battery is completely on 0 and cannot start up as it has been doing previously.
I have also received and performed these instructions from a colleague of yours which has not helped either:
1. Turn off pc and charge the computer completely for about 2 hours or there is white led by the ac-adapter plugin.
2. Hold down esc or press esc button a lot and start the pc while doing this until you come into a special menu.
3. Press F2 button.
4. Components test.
5. Hard drive/disk.
6. Take out the ac-adapter.
7. extensive/full test.
8. Choose run until error and let it do the test until the computer dies completely.
9. Let the computer be shut off and charge the computer fully for up to 2 hours.
10. Start the computer.
Please advise next step

Thank you for posting back.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8. (do not skip any troubleshooting steps even if you feel steps are repeating)
BIOS default:
- Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
- Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit.
- Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
- Follow the prompts to restart your computer. If the issue persists, follow the next steps.
Run hardware diagnostics test on battery and Charger:
Use the following steps to open the Component Tests menu.
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests.
- The Component Tests menu displays. Your Component Tests menu might be different, depending on the components installed on your computer.
- To run both tests simultaneously, in the Component Tests menu, click Power Source, and then click Run once. Each component can also be tested individually.
AC Adapter Test:
The AC Adapter test provides an interactive test to determine if the AC power adapter is functioning properly. A good battery is required for this test. Before running the AC Adapter Test, HP recommends verifying that your computer can receive power by connecting a known working AC adapter.
Follow these steps to perform the AC Adapter Test.
- In the Component Tests menu, click Power, and then click an AC Adapter Test.
- Click Run once.
- The AC Adapter Test begins.
- When the test is complete, the results are displayed on the screen.
Battery Test:
Follow these steps to perform the Battery Test:
- In the Component Tests menu, click Power, and then click Battery.
- Click Run once. The Battery Test begins.
- When the battery test is complete, the results are displayed on the screen. For additional battery information, click Battery Details.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi,
I have now performed the suggested items but still no luck. The battery draining issue is more of my concern now. Its almost as if the laptop does not shut down to 0 when powered off and apps continue running because it stays hot while powered off and drains the battery after a good 8 hours or so to completely 0 %.
Please advise next step.

Hi Echo,
I am still in contact with your support but still no solution has been discovered, we have tried all sorts of things with no luck. Now performed a hard reset and it still performs the same. Latest done was put the CS power option in the registry to 0 but that has had no effect either.
Do you have any solutions that have worked as I can see I am not the only person with this issue.
Please Advise
