HP Stream - 11-ak0012dx
Microsoft Windows 11

When I first got it the laptop didn't boot up or anything just a blank screen with the white LED. Then after I tried to turn it on (pressing and holding the button for 30s) it started to boot up. Now it's not working anymore but the white LED is still on and it charges normally. Any solutions or something? Very appreciated thank you

Hi @Painty757,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Stream 11 might be experiencing a display issue. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot.

  • Hard Reset: Since you mentioned you've already tried holding the power button for 30 seconds, which can sometimes resolve issues, let's move to the next steps.
  • External Monitor Check: Connect an external monitor to your laptop to see if the display appears on the external screen. If it does, it could indicate a problem with the laptop's built-in display.
  • Brightness Adjustment: Sometimes the display brightness might be set to the lowest level. Try pressing the brightness adjustment keys on your keyboard to see if the display brightness increases.
  • BIOS Reset: If possible, perform a BIOS reset. This involves accessing the BIOS settings (usually by pressing a specific key during startup, such as F10 or Esc on HP laptops) and selecting the option to reset to defaults.
  • Check Display Cable Connections: If you're comfortable, you could open up the laptop (if it's not under warranty) and check if the display cable connecting the screen to the motherboard is securely connected. Loose connections can cause display issues.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Sometimes outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause display problems. Try updating the graphics drivers to the latest version from HP's support website.
  • Hardware Diagnostics: Use HP's built-in hardware diagnostics tool (usually accessible by pressing F2 or Esc during startup) to check for any hardware issues, including the display.

Given the symptoms you've described, it's likely a hardware-related issue, especially if the external monitor doesn't show any display either.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
