Hi:

I have W10 running on my nc6400 notebook.

The latest build of W10 will only work if your notebook has the onboard Intel graphics adapter, and not the AMD Radeon x1300 graphics.

That is a lot of money to spend on an operating system on a 15 year old notebook.

Do you have a way to install W7 on it for free and then take the free upgrade to W10?

You would have to have an operating system installed, and then find the hardware ID for the graphics adapter.

There might be one other way to see what model graphics adapter is installed when you have no operating system installed.

What is the product number of your nc6400?   Use this guide to find that information...please do not post the serial number.

I will look in the parts list for that product number and see if it lists that information.

There is nowhere you can get free Windows operating systems.  I was hoping you may have had one lying around.

You can install Ubuntu for free on your notebook and that will work also, so you can use it.

I just can't see paying over 1,156 Kr for W10 Home, or 1,663 Kr for W10 Pro.

Unfortunately the parts list for that product number has every possible option that could have been installed, so it is of no help.

You're very welcome.

Hopefully, Ubuntu will tell you what model graphics adapter your notebook has.
