Hi @Nilkanth1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop's built-in keyboard and mouse, as well as external USB keyboard and mouse, are not working, it can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix hardware-related issues. Shut down your laptop completely, disconnect any external devices, and then restart it.
Check for hardware issues:
- Ensure that your external keyboard and mouse are functioning properly by testing them on another device.
- If you have a wireless keyboard or mouse, check the batteries or try replacing them.
- Examine the USB ports for any visible damage. If you're using a USB hub, try connecting the devices directly to the laptop.
Check Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select "Device Manager."
- Look for any yellow triangles or exclamation marks next to the keyboard and mouse devices. If you see any, it indicates a driver issue.
- Right-click on the problematic devices and choose "Update driver."
Reinstall keyboard and mouse drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click on the keyboard and mouse devices, and select "Uninstall device."
- Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers.
Use System Restore:
- If the issue started recently, you can use System Restore to revert your system to a previous state when the keyboard and mouse were working.
- Type "Create a restore point" in the Windows search bar, and then click on the "System Restore" button to guide you through the process.
Check for malware:
- Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to check for malware that might be affecting your system's functionality.
Update Windows:
- Make sure your operating system is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.
Check for BIOS/UEFI updates:
- Visit the HP support website and check for BIOS/UEFI updates for your laptop model. Be cautious when updating the BIOS and follow the HP instructions carefully.
Hardware diagnostics:
- HP laptops often come with built-in hardware diagnostics. You can access them during the boot process by pressing a specific key (often ESC or F2). Run diagnostics to check for any hardware issues.
Remember to backup your important data before performing any significant changes to your system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
