Hi @Lynn20221
Welcome to the HP support community.
Try these steps
Here are some ways to recover the BIOS on an HP laptop:
Use a key press combination
Turn off the computer and connect the AC adapter
Press and hold Windows + b
Simultaneously press the power button
After 2–3 seconds, continue to press and hold Windows + b but release the power button
If your HP Pavilion 14-dvl won’t turn on even after installing a new battery, here are some troubleshooting steps to try:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
- Power Off: Ensure the laptop is completely off.
- Disconnect Power: Unplug the charger.
- Remove the Battery: If it's removable, take out the new battery.
- Drain Residual Power: Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect Power: Reinstall the battery and plug in the charger, then try to power on the laptop.
2. Check Charger and Power Connection
- Ensure the charger is working correctly. If possible, test it with another compatible HP laptop.
- Look for any damage to the charging cable or port.
3. Inspect the Power Button
- Make sure the power button isn't stuck or damaged. Sometimes, debris can get lodged around it.
4. Try Booting Without the Battery
- Remove the Battery: With the laptop unplugged, remove the battery.
- Plug in the Charger: Connect the charger and try to power on the laptop without the battery.
5. Connect to an External Display
- If you suspect the laptop may be turning on but not displaying, connect it to an external monitor or TV to see if it displays anything.
6. Check for Indicator Lights
- Look for any LED indicators when pressing the power button. If there are no lights at all, it may indicate a power issue.
7. Remove External Devices
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.) and try to power on the laptop again.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
