Meanwhile, here's what you need to know and do:

This error message might indicate an issue with sectors, data, or physical disks on the hard drive.

If this error message displays, do the following:

  • Make an immediate backup of all important data and files. For instructions on how to back up your data, refer to Backing Up Your Files (Windows 😎 for computers running Windows 8, or Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7) for computers running Windows 7.

  • Perform a hard drive diagnostic test to verify the condition of the hard disk drive. For instructions on how to perform a hard drive test, refer to the following steps.
