The only way to install Windows 8 is to use original HP Recovery media - original HP Recovery USB drive.

The licesing status cannot be seen online but might be available with Win 10 if it was selected in Windows 10 - not sure if you initentionally enabled such an option > http://www.windowscentral.com/how-re-activate-windows-10-after-hardware-change

Well, there is no easy way to fix it. Since the reset failed you now have no operating system installed. Additionally, the recovery partition has been corrupted. For Win 8.1 you need to contact HP Support for business (you have a business class device).

Here is how:

Ask if HP can provide you with a recovery USB to be used to reinstall Windows.

Let me know how it goes. Once you obtain the recovery media, I will provide you with instructions how to use it.

Hi @Mbo91

I tried to find a recovery media online but couldn't. So, if HP doesn't have a recovery media - noone else have (probably).

However, despite the warranty expired , you should still be able to contact HP.

I don't have your tablet model but tried with another model (business class) which has warranty expired.

1. I visited https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp/

2. Entered device model - yours should be 408 G1

3. It finds the model

4. Enter serial number , keep United States and English as languages

5. Clicked on Show Options button

6. System identified that my warranty has expired and warned me about a possibility of a fee but still showed me a blue button called "Chat now"

7. I clicked on "Chat now" and was allowed to start chatting with HP employee

Please, note that there will probably be a small fee for the recovery media - usually around 30 USD/euro/pounds which covers the media itself and the shipping costs.

Can you try again to contact HP using the methos described above ? If not, please let me know and I will try a different way.

I am sorry, I didn't knew you were from UAE.

You can call the business support for UAE > 800 0444 1483

Support is open Sunday - Thursday / 09:00-19:00
UAE time  (except Public Holidays)

Let me know what they say and if you experience issues with them.

Note that in certain counties HP may not provide directly the recovery media but will (should) redirect you to a local company (HP partner) who should be able to provide you the appropriate recovery media to restore the operating system.

Looking forward to your update

For anyone that is looking for the Canadian USB media, HP sent it to me and it worked for my unit.  Feel free to PM me if you need a copy.
