ProBook 4515s
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I have a HP laptop that I haven't used for a few years and I have forgoten any passwords. I want to give the laptop to my sister who now needs one. The operating system is windows 7.

I don't need any data on the computer so I was wondering if using the recovery maneger(factory reset) would delete the operating system. The reason I ask is because I can't get the iso file of of the windows website using the product key.

Hi:

The recovery manager will reset the PC's hard drive to its 'out of the box' condition like the day you bought it.

If you would rather clean install W7, you can make your own W7 installation media as follows.

Click on the Windows ISO Downloader.exe link below to download the tool to create the W7 ISO file download.

This link downloads a file that accesses the Microsoft Techbench W7 ISO files and generates the ISO file download you need.

https://www.heidoc.net/php/Windows-ISO-Downloader.exe

Select the Windows COEM ISO file download for the version of W7 the product key is good for.

I have zipped up and attached the Microsoft utility below, that will allow you to either put the file on a USB flash drive or DVD, or you can use a different free utility such as Rufus.

Then you can install the drivers and available software from the PC's support page...
