Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Envy x360 touchpad is not functioning properly because of a missing or incompatible driver. The issue might be that the Synaptics Precision Touchpad filter driver is installed, but the required touchpad driver isn't present or has become corrupted. Here’s how you can resolve this:
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting:
1. Check Device Manager for Missing Drivers
- Open Device Manager:
- Right-click the Start Menu and select Device Manager.
- Look for Mice and other pointing devices.
- You should see something like "Synaptics Touchpad" or "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" listed here. If it shows a yellow triangle or is missing, it indicates a driver issue.
- Right-click the touchpad device (if present) and select Update Driver.
- You can also choose Uninstall device and then restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the correct driver.
2. Install the Latest HP Touchpad Driver
- Sometimes, HP’s Synaptics Precision Driver might not be automatically detected or installed. To resolve this, you can manually download the HP Synaptics Touchpad Driver from the official HP website:
- Go to the HP Support page.
- Enter your HP Envy x360 model number (or select it from the list).
- Navigate to Drivers & Downloads.
- Under Driver – Input, look for the latest Touchpad driver or Synaptics Driver.
- Download and install the driver, then restart your laptop.
3. Install the Generic Windows Touchpad Driver
If the HP-specific driver isn’t working, you can try installing the generic Windows touchpad driver:
- Right-click on Start and open Device Manager.
- Under Mice and other pointing devices, right-click the touchpad and select Update Driver.
- Select Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers.
- Choose Synaptics PS/2 Port Input Device or HID-compliant mouse if available.
- Follow the prompts to install the driver, then restart your system.
4. Check Windows Update for Driver Updates
Sometimes, touchpad drivers are included in Windows updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for updates and install any available updates, especially for drivers.
I hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for your help, I have tried all the methods you mentioned but unfortunately none of them worked. Tried through browser and device manager even I reset my laptop but looks like the issue is with software. Actually I want to install HID Compliance Driver that I accidentally uninstalled but can't find it online. The mice has 2 drivers installed and one of them is this driver

Hi @FurqanAthar_28,
Thank you for your response, It sounds like you've tried a variety of troubleshooting steps already, but the issue with the HP touchpad persists, especially after accidentally uninstalling the HID Compliance Driver. It’s great that you're focusing on reinstalling the correct driver—this is usually key to resolving touchpad problems.
Here’s how you can proceed to reinstall the HID Compliance Driver, or potentially get your touchpad working again:
Option 1: Reinstalling HID Compliance Driver via Device Manager
Since you mentioned that you’ve reset your laptop and have tried to install the driver via the Device Manager, let’s go through the steps again to make sure the driver is reinstalled properly:
Open Device Manager:
- Press Windows Key + X and select Device Manager from the menu.
Locate Mice and Other Pointing Devices:
- In Device Manager, look for the category labeled Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click on the existing mouse drivers listed (typically there might be more than one listed here).
Update the Driver:
- Right-click on each of the drivers listed under Mice and other pointing devices and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows will attempt to find the correct driver for the HID Compliance Driver.
Option 2: Manually Downloading HID Compliance Driver
If Device Manager can’t find the right driver automatically, you can download it manually from trusted sources:
HP Support Website:
- Go to the HP support page and enter your laptop’s model number.
- Download and install the latest Synaptics or Windows-compatible touchpad drivers that may include the HID Compliance Driver.
Microsoft Update Catalog:
- Another option is to use the Microsoft Update Catalog.
- Go to the Microsoft Update Catalog.
- Search for the HID-compliant touchpad driver, download it, and then install the package that matches your system architecture (32-bit or 64-bit).
Option 3: Restore the Driver
If you recently uninstalled the HID Compliance Driver, try to restore it:
System Restore:
- If you have System Restore enabled, you could try restoring your system to a point before you uninstalled the driver.
- Press Windows Key + R, type rstrui, and press Enter to open the System Restore utility. Select a restore point from before the driver was uninstalled, then follow the prompts to restore your system.
Check Windows Update:
- Sometimes, missing or uninstalled drivers can be automatically updated through Windows Update. Check if there are any available updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
Option 4: Reinstalling Touchpad Driver
If the issue continues to persist, it might be helpful to reinstall the touchpad drivers entirely:
Uninstall Existing Drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click on any Touchpad or Mice and other pointing devices entries, and click Uninstall device.
- After uninstalling, restart your laptop. Windows may automatically reinstall the correct drivers upon reboot.
Install HP Touchpad Driver:
- Visit the HP website again and download the most recent touchpad driver for your specific laptop model. Reinstall the driver manually.
Option 5: Windows HID Driver
I hope this helps.
