@Dianerex, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Run a Full Antivirus Scan

Once in Safe Mode, if you have an antivirus program (like Windows Defender or any third-party antivirus), perform a full system scan to check for malware or any suspicious programs.

If you don’t have antivirus software installed, you can try running Windows Defender.

Check for Windows Updates or Driver Issues

Sometimes, certain updates or drivers can conflict with the system and cause issues like this. In Safe Mode, check if there are any pending updates.

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates.

Also, go to Device Manager (press Windows + X and select Device Manager) and see if any drivers have issues (they will typically show with a yellow triangle icon).

Perform a System Restore

If the issue started recently, a System Restore can take you back to a point before the error started happening.

In Safe Mode, go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.

Follow the prompts to choose a restore point that was created before the issue began.

Run a Disk Check

If your system is corrupted or has file system issues, you might need to check the disk for errors.

Open the Command Prompt in Safe Mode (search cmd).

Type: chkdsk /f and press Enter.

It might ask you to schedule the check for the next restart—accept it and restart your PC.

Disconnect from the Internet

If the issue seems related to an online security warning, temporarily disconnecting from the internet (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) can stop any potential external threat or connection that may be causing the problem.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
