"Missing operating system" or "Operating System Not Found" issue may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:
- The basic input/output system (BIOS) does not detect the hard disk.
- The hard disk is damaged.
- Sector 0 of the physical hard disk drive has an incorrect or malformed master boot record (MBR)
Refer to the following methods and check if it helps:
Method 1: Disconnect all the unnecessary external devices connected to the computer (except the mouse, keyboard and the recovery media) now check if the operating system loads.
Method 2: Verify the BIOS settings
Method 3: Use the fixmbr command in the Windows 10 Technical Preview Recovery Console to repair the MBR of the startup partition.
If none of these working, just try more methods at https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/missing-operating-system.html.
