I am trying to restore my HP 15 F111-DX to factory specs. during the attempt it quit and i get the blue screen Computer repair shop says recovery media is corrupt. I purchased this from HP directly some time back and this is the first time i have tried to use it and discovered it is bad. Any suggestions? Shop wants to install a new OS but i dont want to spend the money since i already paid $60.00 for the recovery media. I have tried an ISO 10 and 8 but it will not upgrade because it will not detect a previous version of windows on it.

Hi
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.
Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat
AND/OR - Power on your PC, press Esc (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).
AND/OR
HOW DO I USE DIAGNOSTICS?
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows is a Windows-based utility that allows you to run diagnostic tests to determine if the computer hardware is functioning properly. The tool runs within the Windows operating system in order to diagnose hardware failures.
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows comes pre-installed on new HP computers, but if not on yours, download here:- http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp93001-93500/sp93457.exe
Prove that the HDD is fit to have an OS installed.
Then you can try to install another OS, which I believe you can do as a No-Cost/Lo-Cost option.
If in doubt please ask.

Thank you for your response and help. I have done that already and all the hardware test show good. Any suggestions on the NO cost/lo cost OS. I tried to install ISO file 10 and 8 for that matter but it will not let me install because it dont recognize a previous version on the machine.

Hi
That is not really a fresh install. That is an upgrade.
To get started, you will first need to have a licence to install Windows 10. You can then download and run the media creation tool. For more information on how to use the tool, see the instructions below.
