Hi @Sushree1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

If you can't find your D drive after formatting your HP PC, there are several possible reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Check Disk Management:

  • Right-click on the "Start" button and select "Disk Management" from the menu.
  • Look for your D drive in the list of drives. It may appear as "Unallocated" space if it hasn't been assigned a drive letter.

Assign a Drive Letter:

  • If you see the D drive listed as unallocated space, right-click on it and choose "New Simple Volume."
  • Follow the wizard to assign a drive letter (usually D) and format the drive.

Data Loss: If you formatted the D drive during the process, the data on it might have been deleted. Check to ensure that you have a backup of any important data.

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Access your computer's BIOS or UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key like F2, Del, or Esc during boot).
  • Verify that your hard drive is detected in the BIOS/UEFI. If not, there might be a hardware issue.

Physical Connection:

  • If you have an external D drive, ensure that it's properly connected to your PC.

Check for Hidden Drives:

  • In File Explorer, click on "View" in the toolbar and check the "Hidden items" box. Sometimes, drives are set to be hidden.

Recovery Options:

  • If none of the above steps work and you believe the data is still on the drive, consider using data recovery software. There are various tools available that can help you recover data from formatted drives.

If this does not help, I request you contact phone support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
