I can't open drive opimization. Now I'm trying to close onedrive window but it will not close. Everyday I find more and more issues with this computer. What else am I going to find? And it takes a long time to open a program and apps. It just spins when I try to shut down or restart.

Hi @LyndySpeed,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing several frustrating issues with your HP Laptop. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these problems.
Drive Optimization:
- If you can't open Drive Optimization, try accessing it through the Command Prompt. Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Enter. Then type defrag C: (replace C: with the appropriate drive letter if necessary) and press Enter.
Closing OneDrive:
- If OneDrive is not closing, you can try to force it to quit. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager, find OneDrive in the list of processes, and click End Task.
Slow Performance:
- Check for updates: Make sure your Windows and all drivers are up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Free up space: If your disk is nearly full, it can slow down performance. Consider deleting unnecessary files or using Disk Cleanup. Open it by pressing Win + R, typing cleanmgr, and pressing Enter.
- Check startup programs: Too many startup programs can slow down your computer. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), go to the Startup tab, and disable any unnecessary programs.
- Run a virus scan: Use Windows Defender or any other trusted antivirus software to scan for malware.
Shutdown Issues:
- Check for running applications: Sometimes, applications prevent shutdown. Ensure all apps are closed before shutting down.
- Power settings: Reset your power settings to default. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change plan settings > Restore default settings for this plan.
- Run a system file check: Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for cmd, right-click, and select Run as administrator), then type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
If these steps don't resolve your issues, you might want to consider performing a system reset. This can be done through Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC. Choose to keep your files or remove everything based on your preference.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

"I can't open drive optimization"
I am not surprised. It probably does not have enough memory swap space to run.
Considering that your laptop has only 64GB eMMC memory as a "hard drive" that chances are high that you have too much data or programs on the limited storage space.
I would never recommend a PC with less than 256GB of storage space.
Even Windows updates will take up empty space and do that quickly.
Your laptop is struggling with a lack of available swap memory space.
"
- Disk CleanupThis built-in utility scans for and allows you to delete temporary files, log files, and other unnecessary files. It can also empty the Recycle Bin and remove system files. However, it doesn't remove temporary files created by browsers like Chrome, so you'll need to remove them from within the browser.
- Storage SenseThis feature automatically deletes junk files, temporary files, and other unnecessary files to free up disk space. You can also control when certain files and folders are automatically deleted.
- Disable hibernationWhen your PC is idle for a certain amount of time, Windows puts it into hibernation and saves a temporary copy of any unsaved work. Disabling hibernation can save space.
- Uninstall applicationsUninstalling applications you no longer use can free up disk space.
- Recycle binThis trash application stores deleted items so you can retrieve them later

Disk cleanupo
Use the Windows Explorer to copy as many files as possible to an external storage location. You can use a USB flash drive for that.
Even more appropriate would be to purchase and install a fast SD memory card.
Leave it installed on a permanent basis.
You may need to use an adapter to avail yourself of the more common micro SDMedia cards. I recommend using a 128GB SD media card.
