I don't know what you tried to restore files back, but without a backup, I know of no method that will work. Windows System Restore, if that is what you tried, does NOT restore files back, only the Operating System.
If these were personal files you lost, for which you made no backups, there might be ways to recover them, but you would have to remove the drive from the laptop and connect it to a working PC to do this. If that is what you want to do, then let me know.
