HP 15-r011dx Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have tried to reset my computer normally by just going into the settings. I have tried to reset it through the command prompt and by spamming f11 on start up to get to a special troubleshooting page and reset it there. The first two methods seem to load at first but then the loading screen just goes away after a bit and nothing happens. The third method shows me this error message that says

"sysreset.exe- Application Error

The instruction at 0x2178c18d referenced memory at 0x0face150. The memory could not be read.

Click on OK to terminate the program"

I just want to factory reset. Do I have to buy stuff? Update? My pc says it will update and that it found some new ones. I don't want to have to deal with snapshot as I have already tried restoring it to a previous date to reset.

Hi:

If you can't reset the PC, you have two options:

1.  Buy recovery media for your notebook from this vendor:

Computer Surgeons - Windows 8.1 64-bit Recovery Kit 763904-003 For HP Notebook PC Model Number 15-r0...

2. Clean install W8.1 for free by making a bootable W8.1 installation flash drive.

You'll need to use another PC if yours is not working.

Download the plain W8.1 64-bit ISO file from the link below.

Download Windows 8.1 Disc Image (ISO File) (microsoft.com)

Use the free Rufus utility to transfer the ISO file to a USB flash drive so that it is bootable.

Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way

Set up the Rufus menu as you see it on the website illustration

Boot from the installation media, install W8.1 and after the installation has completed, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.
