Hi @Freddy2097, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your laptop is stuck in the HP hardware diagnostics screen and not booting into Windows 7. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Step 1: Exit the Diagnostics Screen
Try Restarting
- Press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds until the laptop turns off.
- Then, press the power button again to turn it on.
Use the Escape Key
- If the diagnostics screen appears again, press the Esc key repeatedly to try exiting to the Startup Menu.
Step 2: Check Boot Options
Access the BIOS
- Turn off your laptop and turn it back on while pressing the F10 key repeatedly.
- Once inside the BIOS, check if the hard drive is detected. If not, your hard drive may be faulty or disconnected.
Change Boot Order
- Inside the BIOS, go to the Boot Options and ensure the hard drive is set as the first boot device.
- Save and exit using F10.
Step 3: Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off your laptop and disconnect all peripherals (USB drives, external monitors, etc.).
- Unplug the power adapter and, if removable, take out the battery.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reconnect the power adapter (leave the battery out for now) and try turning it on.
Step 4: Run Hardware Tests
If you are still in the HP Basic System Diagnostics screen, try running a hard drive test and memory test to check for hardware failures.
- Select Hard Drive Test → Run the quick and extended tests.
- Select Memory Test → Run a full check.
If either test fails, you may need to replace the faulty component.
Step 5: Attempt a Windows Repair
If your hardware is fine but Windows still won’t load, try booting into Safe Mode:
- Turn off your laptop and turn it on while pressing F8 repeatedly.
- Select Safe Mode and see if Windows loads.
- If successful, run System Restore from within Safe Mode to revert your system to an earlier working state.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
