Hi @Signature4032,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I’m sorry to hear you’re locked out of your laptop after the reset—that must be incredibly frustrating, especially after all your efforts to log in. Let's see if we can work through this and help you regain access.
Here are a few steps to try:
1. Use the Local Admin Account (If Available)
- Restart the laptop and, at the login screen, look for an Administrator account. Sometimes, after a reset, a hidden admin account appears temporarily.
- If it’s there, select it and log in without a password or with “admin” as the password. Once logged in, you can create a new user or reset your primary user account password.
2. Boot into Safe Mode
- Restart your laptop, and press F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly during startup to access Advanced Boot Options.
- Select Safe Mode with Command Prompt. When the Command Prompt opens, type:
- This will enable the hidden Administrator account, which you can use to log in and set up a new account.
3. Use the Password Reset Option (If Available)
- At the login screen, see if there’s a Reset password link. If your laptop was set up with a Microsoft account, you may be able to reset the password online at Microsoft’s account recovery page.
4. Create a New Admin User via Command Prompt in Recovery Mode
- If you have access to a Windows installation or recovery USB, boot from it, select Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Command Prompt.
5. Use HP Recovery Manager (Factory Reset)
- If none of the above steps work, you may need to perform another reset. Restart the laptop and press F11 during boot to access HP Recovery Manager.
- Choose System Recovery and follow the prompts. This will perform a factory reset, which will delete personal files, but it should allow you to set up a new user account.
