Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I factory reset my Hp Pavilion g7-1070 and had no problem but can't updates because IE 8 will not open. I reset the internet options from the control panel but that didn't help.

I wanted an updated version then make an image copy so I didn't want to load Chrome. yet.

Any help would be appreciated/

By the way, Is "mypal a safe browser for win7

You're very welcome.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if you can run the the first two updates manually via the standalone update packages.

KB4535102

First file on the list:

Microsoft Update Catalog

KB4516065

Second file on the list:

Microsoft Update Catalog

KB4493132

Pretty much an unnecessary update and is not available on the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

You can download the last version of IE (version 11) at the link below so you can do the bazillion updates to W7:

Download Internet Explorer 11 (64-bit) for Windows 7 ONLY from Official Microsoft Download Center

I would use the Microsoft Edge browser for W7 which you can download from the link below:

Download Microsoft Edge

Hello Paul,

Thanks for the information.

I was able to rebuild my laptop and get a clean win 7 with updates except for these 3 updates:

KB4535102
KB4516065
KB4493132

I tried multiple times in update, but they always fail.

I downloaded Internet Explorer 11 successfully, but It can't access the internet. I checked the Internet options settings and selected: restore settings and reset advanced settings.

The Connections tab shows a good connection to my router.

The only way I can get on the internet is through a Microsoft link: bing.com that only connects to Microsoft websites.

I assume these 3 missing updates are the cause. Any ideas where I can go from here?
