Spectre
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop had Window 10 originally and then upgraded to Window 11 when it was launched. It recently got crashed.

I contacted HP support and they recommended to reinstall OS using HP Recovery Tool. I did that and got Window 10 installed again using HP Recovery Tool on a USB.

From then I get below error intermittently, sometimes after restart it works normal, sometimes it does not -

Boot device not found, please install an operating system on your Hard Disk,

I contacted HP Support and my issue of intermittent BIOS Error is now resolved. Seems like I had some corrupt files which needed to be fixed.

So, below command was executed from command prompt(Administrator) ->

sfc /scannow

The sfc /scannow command will scan all protected system files, and replace corrupted files with a cached copy that is located in a compressed folder at %WinDir%\System32\dllcache.

Hi @Sourav_2018,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing a BIOS error screen intermittently on your HP Spectre laptop can be frustrating and concerning. BIOS errors can be caused by various factors, including hardware issues, software conflicts, or incorrect settings. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check for Updates: Ensure that your laptop's BIOS and drivers are up-to-date. HP periodically releases BIOS updates that can address known issues and improve system stability.
  • Check Hardware: Verify that all hardware components are properly connected and seated. Loose connections can cause intermittent issues. If you recently added or upgraded hardware, consider removing it temporarily to see if the problem persists.
  • Run Hardware Diagnostics: Many HP laptops have built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify hardware problems. You can access these tools by pressing specific keys during startup, as indicated in the laptop's manual or on the HP website.
  • Check for Overheating: Overheating can lead to intermittent errors. Make sure your laptop's cooling system is clean and functioning correctly. Use compressed air to clean out dust and debris from the vents.
  • Check for Malware: Run a full system scan using a reliable antivirus program to check for malware or viruses that could be causing the issue.
  • Reset BIOS Settings: If the issue persists, try resetting the BIOS settings to their default values. To do this, access the BIOS setup during boot (usually by pressing a specific key like F2 or Del) and look for an option to "Load Default Settings."
  • Update BIOS: If you haven't updated the BIOS, consider doing so. Visit the HP support website, enter your laptop's model number, and download the latest BIOS update. Follow the instructions carefully to perform the update.
  • Perform a System Restore: If the problem started after installing new software or drivers, try performing a system restore to a point before the issue occurred.
  • Reinstall Windows: As a last resort, if none of the above steps resolves the issue, consider reinstalling Windows. This will eliminate any software-related problems.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

With the help of Run Hardware Diagnostics I think I was able to narrow down the issue to below snapshots. Please check if this could be the issue.
