@David2223, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your notebook was running overnight while plugged into AC power, and now it won’t turn on after shutting off by itself. Let’s walk through some steps to help get your device powered back on.

Perform a Hard Reset

This helps drain residual electrical charge that might be preventing startup.

For notebooks with removable battery:

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Unplug the AC adapter.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  5. Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.
  6. Try turning it on.

For notebooks with non-removable battery:

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Unplug the AC adapter.
  3. Press and hold the Power button for 15–20 seconds.
  4. Plug in the AC adapter and try powering it on.

Check the Power Adapter and LED Indicators

  • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected and the wall outlet is functional.
  • Look for any LED lights near the charging port or on the power button.
    • No lights? Try a different HP-compatible charger if available.
    • Blinking lights? Note the pattern-it may indicate a hardware issue.

Try a BIOS Recovery (if applicable)

If the notebook is completely unresponsive but you see a faint light or hear a fan:

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Press and hold Windows + B keys, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
  3. Release the Power button but keep holding Windows + B for another 5 seconds.
  4. If the BIOS recovery screen appears, follow the on-screen instructions.

External Display Test (if screen is black)

Connect your notebook to an external monitor or TV using HDMI or VGA to check if it’s a display issue.

If none of the above steps work, the issue may be hardware-related, in that case, we suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: support.hp.com/sk-sk/help/service-center

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
