Hi @Chaplainbob,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the Apple M3 is part of Apple's Silicon line of processors, and it runs macOS, Apple's operating system. The most recent macOS versions compatible with the M3 include macOS Sonoma (14) or later. Your MacBook will support the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer if you install the appropriate drivers and software.
Steps to Set Up Your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 on macOS M3:
Check Compatibility:
- The HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is compatible with macOS. However, ensure that the printer firmware is updated to the latest version.
Download HP Smart: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Visit the HP Smart app page on the Mac App Store and download the app. This simplifies setup and provides additional features.
Connect the Printer:
- Connect your printer to the same Wi-Fi network as your MacBook.
- Alternatively, you can use a USB connection.
Install the Printer:
- Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Click the "+" button and select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 from the list of available printers.
Install Printer Drivers:
- If the printer doesn't appear automatically, download the latest drivers for macOS from the HP Support website.
Test the Printer:
- Print a test page to ensure everything is working correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
