I have a computer that was owned by Edited she has passed and I am attempting to reload it.

This is an HP ENVY, Model #17m-bw0013DX, Product # 3WF1UA#ABA, Serial #Edited, I need to know how to wipe the Hard drive and reload the factory load.

I am a friend of the owner who has an understanding of computers.

Option 1: Use HP Recovery Manager (F11 Method)

If the recovery partition is intact:

1. Turn off the laptop.
2. Turn it back on and immediately press F11 repeatedly until you see the Choose an option screen.
3. Select Troubleshoot → Recovery Manager.
4. Choose System Recovery → Remove everything and reinstall Windows.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

⚠️ If it gets stuck on “Please wait,” the recovery partition may be corrupted. In that case, use Option 2 below.

Option 2: Use HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Recommended)

This method downloads the factory image from HP and wipes the drive.

What You’ll Need:

• A 32 GB USB drive.
• Another working Windows PC.
• Your product number: 3WF1UA#ABA.

Steps:

1. On another PC, download the HP Cloud Recovery Tool:

2. Run the tool and enter your product number: 3WF1UA#ABA.
3. Create the recovery USB.
4. Insert the USB into the HP ENVY laptop.

6. Select the USB drive and follow the prompts to wipe and reinstall the factory image.

🛠 Optional: Secure Erase Before Reinstall

If you want to fully wipe the drive (for privacy or resale):

• During recovery, choose Remove everything.

list disk

select disk 0

clean

exit
