(pre discussion: Yes I realize that HP no longer officially supports computers from this era. Yes I know that its outdated, I am restoring a retro machine. I am doing this because I feel examples of computers from this time period are important and should be saved.)

Now that, that is aside lets talk about the computer.

I have a HP pavilion N5470 from the year 2000, running Windows ME.

The system still works like brand new but I would like to restore it to factory settings and defaults (preferably with a restore disc or ISO). The hard drive is ancient and I do not know how long it will last, I have a replacement standing by so all I need is the software for it. That is the drivers, (I can get windows ME from WinWorld), and I would like to have the software ect that came with the computer when it was new.

If anyone has any ideas, unlike other computer

I managed to find a website that has the drivers on it, and people say is safe (use at your own risk)

Let me add that this computer is missing drivers from the face of the internet and from HPs website. This is mostly a driver issue at this point.

Hi:

HP retires support for consumer class notebooks that are more than 10 years old which is why you can't find any drivers for it on the HP support site.

This vendor still sells a recovery kit for your notebook which includes the operating system and drivers.

Is there a reason that HP does not host the drivers? It seems ridiculous to not host some drivers that might maybe take up a couple of terabytes for all the products from that era.
