My wife's work laptop is a Dell and at home she uses a Dell WD19S Docking Station connected to 3 monitors. My work laptop is a Dell EliteBook 645 G9. I tried using the USB C plugged into my HP and the camera and headset plugged into the docking station would work, but none of the monitors. I then downloaded Dell Driver Realtek-USB-GBE-Ethernet_Controller_Driver and installed. Now my HP will allow me to Extend my desktop only when my laptop is left open. so, Two monitors show the same thing (extended view of laptop screen) and the third acts correctly. As you can tell I am no tech guy, but i am tring, any help you can give would be appreciated.

Hi @Richard75A,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Connecting an HP 645 G9 Notebook to a Dell WD19S Docking Station via USB-C should be possible, but you might need to follow some steps to ensure proper functionality. Here's a general guide on how to set it up.
- Check Compatibility: Ensure that both your HP 645 G9 Notebook and the Dell WD19S Docking Station are compatible with each other. While USB-C is a universal standard, there can be compatibility issues between specific devices.
- Connect the Dock: Plug the Dell WD19S Docking Station into a power source and connect it to your external monitors, keyboard, mouse, and any other peripherals you want to use.
- Connect the USB-C Cable: Use a high-quality USB-C cable to connect your HP 645 G9 Notebook to one of the USB-C ports on the docking station. Ensure that the cable is securely plugged in on both ends.
- Power On: Power on your HP 645 G9 Notebook. It should detect the docking station and start configuring the display settings automatically.
- Configure Display: Depending on your operating system (e.g., Windows or macOS), you may need to configure the display settings to extend, duplicate, or use external monitors. You can usually do this through your computer's display settings.
- Install Drivers (if necessary): Sometimes, you might need to install additional drivers or software to ensure that all the features of the docking station work correctly. Check the Dell website for any drivers or software updates related to the WD19S docking station.
- Test Peripherals: Ensure that your keyboard, mouse, external hard drives, and other peripherals connected to the docking station are working correctly. If not, you may need to install drivers for those devices or check their connections.
- Update Firmware: It's a good practice to update the firmware of both your laptop and the docking station to the latest versions, as this can resolve compatibility issues and improve overall performance.
- Security Warnings (Optional): Depending on your operating system and security settings, you might receive warnings when connecting to a docking station. If prompted, allow the connection.
- Eject Properly (Optional): When you're done using the docking station, it's a good idea to safely eject it or disconnect it from your laptop to avoid data corruption.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
