Hi @KenWeb93,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I am afraid may not. However, let's check the minimum system requirements. Chrome OS Flex is designed to run on a wide range of older PCs and Macs, but for the best experience, it’s recommended to check specific compatibility.
Minimum Requirements for Chrome OS Flex:
- Processor: Intel or AMD x86-64-bit architecture (not ARM-based).
- RAM: 4 GB or more.
- Storage: 16 GB or more.
- Boot: Ability to boot from USB.
- Graphics: Integrated or discrete graphics supported by the Chrome OS Flex installer.
Steps to Check Compatibility:
- Confirm Specs: Your HP ENVY 17-j141na has an Intel Core i7 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and sufficient storage, making it likely to meet the requirements.
- Check Google’s Certified Models List: While your model may not be certified, many uncertified models still work well with Chrome OS Flex. You can find the list of certified devices here.
- Test Using a USB Installer:
- Create a Chrome OS Flex USB installer using the Chromebook Recovery Utility in Chrome.
- Boot your HP ENVY from the USB to test Chrome OS Flex without installing it.
Note:
- Some features, like proprietary hardware (e.g., fingerprint readers or advanced audio enhancements), may not work on uncertified devices.
- Ensure you back up your data before installing, as it will overwrite the existing OS.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
