HP ENVY Notebook - m6-p113dx

I turn it on. It loads the desktop then nothing. I can’t even run a scan on it. I’ve been trying to work from home for hours. It’s only 3 years old. Not used much. I’m really frustrated.

@Aharris0608

You said your PC is three years old, so my guess is that it is running Windows 10. Please confirm that.

Does your PC appear to be locked-up, or otherwise running very slowly?

If not, what specifically happens when you try to launch an app?

We can proceed when you provide the information.
Thanks

It did do the windows 10 update. It does nothing. I can use the mouse. I cannot click on anything. My windows button does not work.  I have no internet icon. I have been trying for about 4 hours. Desktop is active and then it goes black. I tried a reset as indicated in one of the forums. Nothing.

Hi

"It did do the windows 10 update"   Is this an incremental or to 1809?

So do you have a DVD/USB to boot from?  Could you possibly make one?
First please try this...
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768/

This works for most HP Laptops (and some Desktops)...
For most laptops, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to reset.
To perform a power reset on a laptop with a sealed or non-removable battery:
Turn off the computer.
Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Can you start in Safe Mode? pressing F8 at startup?

At the moment I am clutching at straws as to the nature of the fault/problem and what to suggest.
