Hello @Vishal_02

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

Creating a seperate partion to protect yourself against viruses/malware or to "reduce potential burden on Windows partition" is not actually going to achieve anything. Even with 20 partitions, the hard disk drive is 1 drive. The partitions are just virtual separation.

Most malware nowadays is of trojan horse type (spyware, backdoor, adware) and those made to destroy will affect any file/partition unless specifically stated not to (which I doubt).

I am not sure what your Windows 7 is - meaning , did it come preinstalled by OEM vendor (like HP) or you installed it on your own ? Do you have a recovery partition ?

You may check these :

At the end, I am trying to say that you do not need to virtually separate your disk. It's just file management - folders / partitions - it's basically the same for an end user.
