I just purchased the HP USB-C Univeral Dock G5. The docking station is plugged and the button on the top is lit up so I know the docking station is getting power, but when I unplug my laptop into the docking station without the power cord the laptop indicates that it is not charging. When I plug in my laptop power cord I see the laptop is charging. How do I resolve this issue?

My laptop is a hp zbook fury 16 g10.

The main problem is the HP USB-C G5 dock is NOT compatible with your machine. It does NOT have enough power for your machine in the first place. You machine can use the following docks (with 280W, the USB-C G5 has 120W PD or less).

  • HP Thunderbolt 280 W G4 docking station combo cable part # M97106-001
  • HP Thunderbolt 280 W G4 docking station with combo cable (TAA) part # N17491-001
