Hi @J_K-2,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like your HP laptop is stuck in a boot loop after the update. Try these troubleshooting steps:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
- Unplug the charger and remove any external devices (USBs, peripherals, etc.).
- If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the battery (if removed) and plug in the charger.
- Try turning it on again.
2. Boot into Safe Mode
If it turns on briefly but doesn’t fully boot, try:
- Turn the laptop on and immediately press F8 (or Shift + F8) repeatedly before the HP logo disappears.
- Select Safe Mode with Networking and see if it boots.
- If successful, uninstall recent updates:
- Open Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update
- Click View update history → Uninstall updates
- Remove the most recent update and restart.
3. Access Windows Recovery Mode
If Safe Mode doesn’t work, force shutdown and restart 3 times:
- Turn it on, then when the HP logo appears, hold the power button until it shuts off.
- Repeat this 3 times until it enters Windows Recovery Mode (WinRE).
- Select Advanced Options → Startup Repair.
4. Try a BIOS Reset
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Press and hold Windows + B keys, then press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
- Release the power button but keep holding Windows + B until the BIOS recovery screen appears.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Check for Hardware Issues
- If nothing works, try booting without the battery (using only the charger).
- Test with a different power adapter if possible.
If it still doesn’t turn on, you may need to reset Windows or reinstall it using a bootable USB. Let me know how it goes! 😊
