HP 14-dq0000 Laptop PC (56Z60AV)

I keep getting this message when I attempt to boot up, laptop will not boot beyond this screen.

“The System BIOS Pending Image is being cleared.

Do not shutdoun or remove power from your computer during the clear.

The clear will take a few minutes to complete.”

I have no idea what to do.

@Mal6626, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

t looks like your HP laptop is stuck on the "System BIOS Pending Image is being cleared" screen. This usually happens when a BIOS update is interrupted or fails to complete properly. Here’s what you can do to resolve the issue:

Give It Time

  • The message suggests that the system is clearing a pending BIOS update.
  • Wait for at least 10–15 minutes to see if it completes on its own.

Perform a Hard Reset

If it remains stuck on this screen:

  1. Turn off the laptop by holding down the power button for about 10–15 seconds.
  2. Disconnect all external devices, including USB drives and external monitors.
  3. Unplug the power adapter and, if possible, remove the battery (if it's removable).
  4. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  5. Reconnect the battery (if removed) and plug in the power adapter.
  6. Turn on the laptop and check if it boots normally.

Try a BIOS Recovery

If the issue persists, attempt a BIOS recovery using HP’s built-in recovery tool:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Press and hold the Windows + B keys, then press the power button for about 2–3 seconds while still holding Windows + B.
  3. Release all keys, and wait.
  4. If the BIOS recovery tool starts, follow the on-screen instructions to recover the BIOS.

Check for a New BIOS Update

  • If you can boot into Windows, visit the HP Support website and check if a new BIOS update is available for your model (HP 14-dq0000).
  • Download and install the latest BIOS update carefully following HP’s instructions.

Let me know if this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
