Hi @Nihal23

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how worrying it feels when your laptop powers on with fans and lights but the screen stays completely black. You’ve already tried the Win+B recovery and a BIOS update in the past, so I appreciate the effort you’ve put in.

Let’s go through a structured set of steps to bring the display back.

Step‑by‑step actions

1. Power reset

  • Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Hold down the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual charge.
  • Reconnect the adapter and try powering on again.

2. External display test

  • Connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI.
  • Power on the laptop and press Fn + F4 (or the display toggle key on your model).
  • If the external screen shows output, the issue is with the laptop’s internal display or connection.

3. Hard reset with battery removal (if removable)

  • If your model has a removable battery, take it out.
  • Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery, connect the adapter, and power on.

4. Reseat memory modules

  • Power off and disconnect the adapter.
  • Open the memory compartment and carefully remove the RAM sticks.
  • Reseat them firmly back into place.
  • This clears potential contact issues that can cause black screen at startup.

5. BIOS recovery attempt

  • With the laptop off, hold Windows + B and press the power button once.
  • Keep holding the keys for 5–10 seconds.
  • If the BIOS recovery screen appears, follow the prompts.
  • If nothing shows, proceed to the next step.

6. Run hardware diagnostics

  • Power on and immediately press F2 repeatedly.
  • If the diagnostics screen appears, run the extensive test for memory and storage.
  • This helps confirm if hardware is functioning.

Since the fans and lights are working, the system is powering but not completing display initialization. By performing a power reset, testing with an external monitor, reseating memory, and attempting BIOS recovery, you can isolate whether the issue is with the display, memory, or BIOS.
