Example: Pavilion DV7
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My computer did not come with an operating system CD.  I need to get one from HP as my hard drive died and I need to install a new one.

Hi:

HP no longer sells recovery media for the dv7 model series.

You may be able to purchase recovery media for your notebook from this vendor at the link below, but you will need to enter the exact model number or product number of your notebook in the search window.

You can also make your own W7 installation media and use that to reinstall W7 if you can still read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on your notebook's case.

If you can read the Windows product key, download the W7 Home Premium ISO 64 bit file from the link below--toward the bottom of the page.

Use the Microsoft tool that I zipped up and attached below that you will need to transfer the ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive so that it is bootable, or you can use a different free utility such as Rufus.
