Don't understand what you're asking.

Your PC, if it came with Win7 preinstalled, also had an HP OEM product key -- printed on a label on the case.

If you're asking to exchange that key for something else, that can't be done -- as the key belongs to the PC, not to you.

I need to download the windows 7 iso but the product key that is on the machine is not accepted. So i need a key that will allow me to download the iso.

You can get Windows 7 ISO using the free tool here:

Sorry, misunderstood what you wanted.

Anyway, @CherylG provided you the same ISO link I would have.

That will download an ISO file of the same OEM edition that HP uses.
You can then use the free RUFUS tool to create a bootable DVD or USB stick from that ISO file and then use that to install Win7 OEM.

Good Luck

Thank you for the help. Once I install windows 7 one a new ssd will the product key which is located on the bottom of my laptop work to activate the os?

HP Recommended

The key is valid to activate Windows on any new hardware other than motherboard of the laptop.

So then do i need to get a different product key?

@brad_lee

The Windows OEM product key is tied to the motherboard of the PC.

You can change out the hard drive and still reuse the same product key.

But if you change out the motherboard, you can't do that.
