Hi @Jena31,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'd be happy to help you authenticate your HP laptop.

There are a few different types of "authentications" depending on what you're trying to do. Here are the most common scenarios and how to proceed:

Step 1. HP Device Authentication for Warranty, Support, or HP Account

If you're trying to register or verify ownership of your laptop:

Steps to Authenticate with HP:

  1. Go to the HP Product Registration Page.
  2. Sign in with your HP Account.
  3. Enter your laptop's serial number and product number (found on a label on the bottom of your device or in BIOS).
  4. Follow the prompts to complete registration.

Step 2. HP Support Assistant Authentication

If you're using HP Support Assistant and it asks to authenticate your device:

  1. Open HP Support Assistant from your Start Menu.
  2. Go to My Devices.
  3. Select your laptop → click Updates & Messages.
  4. If authentication is required, it will prompt you to sign in to your HP account and register the device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, as it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
