Do you mean your Windows Operating system license key?

In order to upgrade the operating system to a better version of Windows you don't need the Windows license activation key.  All you need is the new license activation key for the new version of Windows.

Here is the command line script to upgrade with a new key.
changepk.exe /ProductKey <enter your new product key here>

There is an even  simpler m,ethod built right into Windows 11.

The twenty-five character Windows license activation key is associated with the MAC address of your HP notebook on the Microsoft's activation servers.

Every HP laptop has a product number and a product name.  It was asked of you to provide that information when you authored the thread.  You can find that information by pressing the power button and immediately tapping the Esc key, which invokes a Startup menu. Press the F1 key to get your notebook's system information. The first and third lines will be the information needed for when you have a question on an issue you have with your HP notebook.
