Hi @Makimakioo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering an issue while trying to reset your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC to its factory settings. Since you're seeing a blue screen and error message, there might be a system file issue preventing the reset. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this.

Use Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)

  1. Access WinRE:
    • Hold down the power button to turn off the laptop, then press it again to turn it back on. As soon as it begins booting, hold down the power button again to force it off.
    • Repeat this process 2-3 times until you see the "Preparing Automatic Repair" message, then enter Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).
  2. Reset from WinRE:
    • In the WinRE menu, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
    • Choose either Remove everything (for a full reset) or Keep my files.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the laptop.

Use Installation Media to Repair or Reset

  1. Create Windows Installation Media:
    • On another working computer, download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's website and create a bootable USB drive.
  2. Boot from the USB Drive:
    • Insert the USB drive into your laptop.
    • Power on the laptop and press Esc or F9 to open the boot menu. Select the USB drive.
  3. Repair or Reset:
    • Once booted from the USB, you can either try to Repair your computer or go directly to Install Windows to fully reset the laptop.

Run Startup Repair or System Restore

Use Startup Repair:

  • In WinRE, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
  • Let the system attempt to fix boot problems.

System Restore:

  • In Advanced options, select System Restore to restore the laptop to an earlier point if one exists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
