I am trying to load  Linux Mint  onto an HP 17by3xxx laptop.  The HD has been wiped clean and formated. However Linux still tells me that I have to disable RST before loading Linux.  I can't seem to find a way to disable RST in my BIOS.

Exactly what I thought, this model has a 16 Gb Intel optane memory, which makes the 1 TB HDD disk go faster, then you can not use the intel optane and you should remove it or replace it with a M.2 NVME disk, because if you leave only the HDD it will reduce the speed by at least 30%, and then you will see how slow this laptop can be.

Hi @Amat3

It would be good to indicate the complete model and the product number that has this form, ASDFG#ABC. because I think you have an intel optane and if this is correct then the intel optane is not compatible with linux

As a follow up to my last post.  My model no. is:  9TB72UA#ABA.    Would changing the HD solve this RST problem or is it a BIOS matter only ?   Either way, this is a great laptop and would be even greater if I could load Linux Mint on it.

My thanks for finding this solution.  It was the  correct one.   I removed the OPTANE card and Linux Mint loaded fine.  We'll see what this does to the speed of the laptop.   Many thanks,  Amat3
