I updated the BIOS on a Saturday and it's now Monday and it still hasn't finished. The laptop just keeps restarting over and over. I did this cause HP recommended it through the support tool. And now I haven't been able to use it since Saturday. Help me out HP, this is your fault.

Hi @SloPoke360 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you want a BIOS update to take this long and causing the laptop to repeatedly restart indicates a serious issue. Here are the steps you should take to try and resolve the situation:
1. Power Off the Laptop
- Hold down the power button for about 10-15 seconds to force the laptop to shut down.
- Unplug the laptop from the power source and disconnect any peripherals (e.g., USB drives, and external monitors).
2. Perform a Hard Reset
- Remove the battery (if it's removable). If it's not, skip this step.
- Hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual electricity.
- Reconnect the battery (if it was removed) and plug the laptop back into the power source.
3. Attempt to Enter BIOS Recovery Mode
- Plug the laptop into a power source.
- Turn the laptop back on and immediately press the "ESC" key repeatedly.
- If the "ESC" key doesn’t work, try "F2" or "F10" to enter the BIOS menu.
If you manage to enter the BIOS menu, you might find an option for BIOS recovery. Follow the on-screen instructions to recover or update the BIOS from there.
4. Create a BIOS Recovery USB Drive
If you can't access the BIOS recovery mode directly, you might need to create a BIOS recovery USB drive on another computer:
- On a different computer, go to the HP Support website.
- Search for your laptop model (HP 14-Dq0000).
- Download the latest BIOS update for your model.
- Follow the instructions on the HP website to create a BIOS recovery USB drive. This usually involves formatting a USB drive to FAT32 and copying the BIOS files onto it.
5. Use the BIOS Recovery USB Drive
- Insert the BIOS recovery USB drive into the laptop.
- Hold down the Windows + B keys simultaneously, then press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds.
- Release the power button but continue holding the Windows + B keys until you see the BIOS recovery screen.
Follow the on-screen instructions to recover the BIOS.
Preventive Tips for the Future:
- Always ensure the laptop is plugged into a power source during a BIOS update.
- Avoid interrupting the update process.
- Follow all instructions provided by the manufacturer carefully.
