Hello @Jennifer01

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

It might be that your PC just cannot connect to a particular wi-fi network, or it could be something else.

I also suppose you have chosen to use Microsoft Connect Account (online email related to email and password) instead of local account. For the local account you do not need active Internet connection for the first login.

Try hard restart/hard reset - might be a temporary glitch

Press the power on-button on your PC and hold it for about 5-10 seconds until your computer powers off completely.

Remove and unplug any external periferals and accessories.

If the PC has an external battery - remove the battery , wait for a while and insert it back in.

Press once the power-on button to turn on the PC and wait if it will start now. Wait...

If it still fails to load properly and if it still does not have a Wi-Fi connection, go ahead with the next steps

Check for a hardware disable/enable button for the Wi-FI

Connect the PC to a cable network (Ethernet LAN)

- Connect your computer via network Ethernet cable to your router/modem

If you manage to do it, check for an Internet connection then , or restart the PC and try again with the cable still plugged in.

If the above did not help,

Reset the PC again and use a local account

- Please, shutdown the computer using the power button (pressed and hold for a few seconds until PC powers off)

- Power the computer back on.

As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap) before any logo appears. This should open a HP Startup Menu

- Choose F11 for System Recovery options.

The computer should boot from it's recovery partition to open you various recovery options. Note, that F11 option will only work if the recovery partition is there (not deleted) and intact. From there, you have prenty of options to choose from. Every HP computer comes with recovery partition present to assist in tough moments.
