HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 15-dk1037tx

When I try to install a new Windows (cause I made a mistake and installed Ubuntu on a separate drive, it erases the boot for my Windows).

When I install Windows, it lets me "Select the driver to install."

I tried all methods on the internet that I can find, and all do not work; the only one that has some progress is the add a driver extract the driver installer, and it either shows the driver is not found or couldn't install contact your vendor for an updated driver.

Here is more background to my laptop(I did modify it)

I upgrade the Ram to a 32GB instead of 16GB

I upgrade the original SSD to a 980 pro

I temporarily added a 2.4" SSD for Ubuntu (I removed that after I realized that Ubuntu would erase the boot file for Windows)

Things I tried that did not work!!!

  • change the USB port I use
  • clean the SSD, and format it
  • remade the USB bootable (I made a lot, I mean a lot)
  • add the driver to install (Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver). I tried a lot of the versions all had the same error.

P.S. I might forget something; if you need more info, let me know.

Hi:

See if your notebook is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool, which you can use to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.   You will need to use a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support

Since you have to use the tool on another PC, you will need to enter your notebook's full product number in the tool's search window.

The first part of your notebook's product number is :  15D93PA#???   but I don't know what the 3 country code characters are for the characters that go to the right of the # sign.

Check your notebook's BIOS for the full product number (or maybe you know it already).
