@T433, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To reinstall the camera driver for your HP Pavilion x360 (14-ab166us) on Windows 11, you can follow these steps:
1. Use Device Manager to Reinstall the Camera Driver
Step 1: Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
Step 2: Expand the Imaging Devices section.
If your camera driver was previously uninstalled, it may show up under Unknown devices or may be missing entirely from the list.
Step 3: Right-click on the camera device (or any unknown device) and select Scan for hardware changes. This should prompt Windows to search for and reinstall the driver automatically.
Step 4: If your camera still doesn’t show up, right-click on Unknown device (or if no camera is listed), and select Update driver.
Step 5: Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and let Windows search and install the appropriate driver.
2. Download the Driver Manually from HP's Website
If the automatic installation doesn’t work:
Step 1: Go to HP Support.
Step 2: Enter your HP Pavilion Notebook - 14-ab166us model and click Search.
Step 3: In the Drivers & Downloads section, select Windows 11 as your operating system.
Step 4: Locate the Camera Driver under the Driver - Multimedia section and download the latest version.
Step 5: Install the driver and restart your laptop.
3. Check Windows Update
Sometimes, Windows Update can provide the correct driver.
Step 1: Press Win + I to open Settings.
Step 2: Go to Windows Update and click Check for updates.
Step 3: If there is an update for your camera driver, it will be listed under optional updates. Install it.
After reinstalling, try using your camera again to verify it's functioning properly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
