Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I need to remove as many apps as possible from the HD of my Stream as it has a limited capacity and I'm running out of operating space.  I've uninstalled everything that I can except the privacy app but I'm not sure what uninstalling it will do.  If it's safe to get rid of it, can someone let me know?

Thanks

Zara

Hi, Zara:

What I recommend you do is to install the free Wise Disk cleaner app, which will remove quite a few unnecessary junk files.

Wise Disk Cleaner - Free Disk Cleanup and Defrag Tool (wisecleaner.com)

It will not uninstall apps.

I set mine to do the basic and advanced cleaning at the same time.

Then I run the Slimming System utility to get rid of unnecessary installation files that have already run.

After you run the Wise disk cleaner, run the Windows disk cleanup app and select the cleanup system files box at the bottom left side of the window.

That will find a lot of old Windows files that you can delete. Sometimes up to several gigabytes, as you can see in my screenshot below after I clicked on the Cleanup System Files button.

Last:  Store your files, photos and music on a SD card instead of the tiny hard drive to free up space.

That's what I do on my HP Stream.

Hi Paul,

Thanks, you're a lifesaver!  Wasn't aware of that app, although I do the disk cleanup pretty much every day.  It's granted me a whole 236MG extra space but every little helps with this machine, so cheers 😄

You're very welcome, Zara.

Cheers,

Paul
